Meet the Artisans

In my craft as a lampshade-maker, the search for exquisite and unique paper is ever-present. The age-old art of marbling, believed to have originated in China before making its way through Central Asia, Japan, and eventually Europe, captivated me ever since I started decorating my own home and discovering the wonderful properties of this old artform. The traditional technique of marbling continues to be practiced by skilled artisans today, each piece a testament to their dedication and creativity.
I am proud to source hand-marbled papers from esteemed artisans in Germany, the UK, and Israel. Among them is the talented Barbara Kelnhofer, a German marbling artist whose workshop in Staufen, Southern Germany, is a haven of creativity and craftsmanship. Barbara is also a teacher and her workshops in beautiful Staufen are usually booked out long in advance.
Likewise, I am so proud to have papers in our range which are exclusively made for us by renowned marbling artist Jemma Lewis. Her work is truly inspiring and she keeps developing new designs on a variety of media (not only paper).
My favorite thing about hand-marbled papers is that not two pieces are exactly the same!
